 Boaring studies ? 

Sometimes a boy from neighbourhood comes to me . He asks me to teach him the lessons already taught by his teachers. In every subject he wants something from me. He is learning in ninth standard in a well known school in a city . When I asked him how his teachers teach ? He said that  they come and read the lesson . That is the easiest way of teaching ! When I asked him further he told me that they never elaborate the similar  meanings of many words. Sometimes they don't say it even in a single word ! They don't try to know whether the students have understood or not ! I thought it as their method. At least they read aloud and something falls on the ears of students ! How much goes in head through the ears is a different thing ! 

I thought that this reading method has helped students to some extent. At least they know the pronunciations and how to read ! But when I asked this boy to read , he went on just reading as though he is running for a race or a tiger is behind him ! He was not able to pause wherever it is required ! His pronunciations were also wrong ! I stopped him and read myself. For few minutes he was startled ! I showed him how to read properly ! He was impressed and I was amused ! 

When asked about asking difficulties , he told me that some teachers don't like difficulties asked ! They ask in return where was the student's mind ? He should have listen carefully. It is right that the students must listen carefully, but still a difficulty may arise . Sometimes students ask out of curiosity too. Teacher must fulfill the curiosity. May be this is not done even in the eminent school in a city ! This boy may be lying to hide his incapacity . May be. 

Another point I noticed is about the preface in the books. It is put there in exact words why the particular subject has to be learnt by the students. That makes sense . It gives vision ! But when I asked the boy he was unaware of it ! This doesn't make sense ! May be that is a wastage and students are not referred to it ! 

I was shocked again when he said that students are asked to read that part only on which the questions are asked ! A nice short cut to study ! This study is only question and answer oriented ! Very practical !! Thorough reading is not necessary ! Not at all ! Just know how to get marks ! Don't think about knowledge ! 

Again, I found another thing while speaking to this boy. He told me the lessons are lengthy and boaring. The language used is not creating interest to read. The teachers also don't make the study interesting. I told him the problems of teachers. They just don't have enough time to make the study interesting. They have many works to perform other than teaching. They are under heavy pressure and that's why they can't do anything even if they want to do ! I told him that he can himself make the study interesting . I will help him to do so. I am doing this ! Give me your best wishesh !
